Discover the history of Farncombe and the unique vision shaping our corner of the Cotswolds.
Our vision
At Farncombe, our aim is simple but ambitious: we want to be the most memorable hill in the world. For some, we’re a country playground for extraordinary events, for others, we’re a place to escape from the rigours of the everyday world. But whether you come to Farncombe Estate for the sublime scenery or the fabulous food, to get out and about or to rest and rejuvenate, you can be sure you’ll cherish your time here for many years to come.
Hygge before it was cool
‘Hygge’ (pronounced ‘hoo-ga’) is originally a Scandinavian term describing the warm, cosy feeling that comes with enjoying the simple pleasures of life. Farncombe Estate’s owners are originally from Denmark, and the hygge philosophy they brought with them is at the heart of the look and feel of all three of our hotels. Each one promises simple, Scandi-inspired design, comfy corners to hide away in, open fires to curl up in front of, and fantastic food and wine to share with friends and family.
